DETERMINATION OF MODULATION INDEXES FOR FORMATION OF SIGNALS WITH ADAPTIVE AMPLITUDE MODULATION

M.A. Bykhovskiy, MTUSI, professor, Dr.Sci. (Tech.); bykhmark@gmail.com

For a communication system with adaptive amplitude modulation (AAM) the algorithm of formation of modulation indexes whose values depend on information parameter m (the number of a signal transmitted through a communication channel) has been developed. These values allow generating a signal corresponding to the number m of the transmitted information sequence in the modulator. It is demonstrated how during reception of transmitted signals a copy of modulation indexes is created in the demodulator which allows restoring the number m of the received signal. Recording of the number m of the message in the form of binary sequence represents the copy of the transmitted message. The formula which defines dependence of m on the values of received modulation indexes is obtained. The structure of ensemble of signals (ES) with ААМ is analyzed. The results allow reducing the number of signals that belong to the ES with ААМ and to simplify their formation in the modulator. The specific speed of message transmission in a communication system with reduced ES decreases slightly.
Keywords: method of digital modulation, multidimensional ensemble of signals, formation and demodulation of signals, spectral efficiency of communication systems.
