The role and the place of television in today’s digital world

On the basis of the tendencies of the development of «smart» TV for the next few years it is shown that the improvement of the TV technology has led to the fact that the parameters of modern production and, especially, promising TVs, begin to significantly surpass capabilities of broadcasters in the part of ensuring the quality of the image. These TVs offer almost unlimited opportunities for a new stage of evolution of the entertainment industry.
In conclusion, provides information about new developments of CJSC «MNITI «and Association of ARPAT, which will contribute to enhancing the attractiveness of the television broadcasting service and the return of the audience. Key words: TV technology, image, ARPAT, entertainment, industry.

Network characteristics under overload of one of the switching nodes

The main goal of this article is the investigation of the next generation network under substantial overload of one of the switching nodes. It is shown that the quality of service is determined by the properties of traffic most loaded node switching by. The results obtained using analytical relations have been verified by the simulation model.
Key words: overload, switching node, IP-packet delay, mean of distribution, coefficient of variation.

«Last mile» digital transmission system with frequency division direction

The analysis and optimization of two-wire cable digital transmission systems with frequency division of transmission directions are practiced: the potential possibilities of such systems through working together on multi-pair cables are defined. It is shown that, in comparison with two-wire digital transmission systems on SHDSL technology analyzed systems with frequency division of directions may provide greater length of the regeneration path. Key words: SHDSL, two-wire cable, multi-pair cable.

The sea water’s impact on the broadband access cable lines' electrical characteristics

The article describes the properties of sea water and the impact on electrical characteristics of cable lines, laid in coastal zones.
Presents cases of penetration of water from the Black, Azov, Caspian and Baltic seas in the cable core. Selected criteria defining the difference between the properties of the seas in their salinity.
Definition of electrical characteristics proposed by the dielectric permittivity, with further evaluation of working capacity of cable lines located in the marine environment entering the cable core in areas where the shell coupling is damaged.
Key words: рroperties of sea water, salinity, chemical composition, dielectric permittivity, electrical capacity.

Protecting information integrity using variable parameter coding

The article presents a solution to the problem of developing the algorithm of encoding and decoding the data with a linear block error-correcting code which has the maximum code distance and allows to change the code parameters swiftly in order to get the maximum adaptation to the current status of the communication channel. In the process of coding, the message vector is represented by a polynomial the values of which for the selected elements of Galois field are code symbols, the number of which must not be smaller than the number of information symbols. In the decoder the estimation of the information polynomial is performed according to the Newton’s interpolation formulae where the interpolation nodes are the symbols not deleted by the demodulator. The article demonstrates that the suggested decoding algorithm has the computational complexity proportional to the square of the information message block and allows changing the relative code rate significantly without introducing serious changes into the encoding / decoding algorithms.
Key words: error-correcting codes, decoding, maximum code distance, polynomial interpolation, Newton’s interpolation formulae, deletion, set of non deleted symbols, measure of reliability, decoding algorithm complexity.

Determination of available IP connections capacity based on measurements for various size’s packages

This paper proposes a method for measuring the available bandwidth, based on testing network packets of various sizes (variable packet size method, VPS). The range of applicability of the model has been found, it is based on the accuracy of the measurements of packet delays. We have also derived a formula for the upper limit of the bandwidth. Computer simulations have been performed and the relationship between the measurement error of the available bandwidth and the number of measurements has been found. Experimental verification with the use of the RIPE test box measuring system has shown that this method has advantages over existing measurement techniques.
Key words: RIPE test box, packet size, computer simulation, accuracy of measurements, generating function, variable delay component.

The discrete signal sequence transmission with modulation rate faster then Nyquist rate

The distance- and probability-performance of pulse-signal-sequence with amplitude-, phase- and quadrature modulation with higher modulation-rate are analyzed. In addition, the probability-performance of signal-code-construction with turbo-trellis-coded-modulation are presented. The possibility and expedience data-transmission «faster than Nyquist» (FTN) are been proved.
Key words: Nyquist-rate, modulation-rate, little-position signal-system, distance-performance, probability-performance.
